Get Fit

I DID IT!

Not only did I complete my FIRST 5k completely running but I did it in my best time yet! 33.40 Minutes! Early March I began training for this run only to get me motivated. Having a goal to work towards really got me going. I have never had a love for running but I am telling you that it does start to grow on you if you stick with it. Also, it really helps to build up your strenght, speed and distance. I would have hated it and would have been completely discouraged if I had jumped right into thinking I could do 3 miles with not problem. Lets just say my first 3 miles were 15 minute miles and I am working on 11 min miles now. That is a pretty good progress after 2 months! I even have began to work on my distance. I completed 4.33 miles the week following the 5k! Whohoo. Maybe I will sign up for a 10k this year! I am posting a picture of my #1 fans below!

I DID IT .... 10K

I did my first 10k now!! Summerfest York, SC 8/25/2012. A 10K is 6.2 miles but the course was incorrectly marked so we actually ran a 12K! How awesome!? So the furthest I  had run was just the Saturday before 6.25 and then here I go running 7.36! I made my time in 1 hour 18 mins. My goal was to cross the finish line and PRAY to not be last... and I was not last :) I actually did not walk any of the 10k so that made me happy, however I did walka few seconds of this run... (after what should have been the end) but I had to walk, my side was killing me. I am so proud of myself for doing the run and I look forward to many more!! Oh and to make things better.... I have lost all my pregnancy weight plus some! :) Time to shape and tone up!

My top 10 reasons to run:
  1. Designated "Me Time"
  2. Complete body workout
  3. Gives me a goal to set for myself and work towards
  4. Allows me to have the feeling of acomplishment once the goal is met.
  5. No monthly "fee" or even gas to be used
  6. Can go at your own pace
  7. A good time to pray for so many things
  8. A way for meditation
  9. A break from all other chores
  10. Teaches my children all the above

Paige and Emily ran the 5K and did their personal best as well!! Sara and Kamden cheered us all on and made the best sign ever! This was an awesome race!!

     Color Run October 2012
Now that was a fun run! Justin, Jeannie, Chad, Emily and myself signed up for this really cool run in Charlotte. It was a 3 mile fun run with colors! Every so many feet, there were people that threw out this colored powder and it would stick to you so by the end, you would be covered in color. It was easily washable and would almost come off completely just by standing in front of a huge fan but people were skipping, running, walking, dressed up funky, singing dancing and having a good time. After, they had a band and we all enjoyed dancing and playing around. They would do count downs for everyone to open and shake their powder color packet so it looked like a color bomb went off. That was a lot of fun! We really enjoyed that! People even had their children in wagons or walking too, next time I would definately have mine! I think Hayden would have enjoyed that!

Running with the Turkeys 5K    Thanksgiving Day 2012

I don't remember my time so I need to look that up on my bib but this one I signed up for alone. Paige Eric and Amanda did it too so they were all there. I liked the fact that I got my run out of the way on Thanksgiving morning so that gave me the green light to really enjoy all the yummy food for the rest of the day :)

Run with the Cougars 5K York 3/23/2013

Back to the first race ever ran for me... the 2nd annual Run with the Cougars 5K My first was 33.40 and this one was.... wait for it..... 28.18 minutes! My goal was under 29 minutes and I did just that! :) Amanda came in first place with a time of 28.17 minutes (I was actually about 5 sseconds behind her) so I came in second and Paige came in 3rd in our age division. Amanda got 3rd place in the overall ladies. :) It was cold and raining but it was a good race! I truly pushed myself to get my goal!
